Today we went on a snowy welly walk. We enjoyed making marks in the snow with our feet and writing our names. This week we have also enjoyed catching snowflakes with our tongues and looking at snowflakes with magnifying glasses.
This week we found out about Chinese New Year and how people celebrate this celebration. We enjoyed working together to make a Chinese dragon, pretending to eat food in our Chinese restaurant and making some paper lanterns too. We retold the story of Chinese New Year in our outdoor area and enjoyed creating a dragon dance in the hall at the end of the week.
The Reception children all enjoyed taking part in our Forest School day.
We made a campfire and learned some rules to keep us safe. We made some butter by placing some cream in a jar with some marbles and took turns to shake the jar.
We then made some bread dough and cooked our dough over the fire. We put our butter on our freshly cooked bread and enjoyed eating it. It was yummy!
We also explored the different leaves and flowers growing around our school field and used hammers to 'bash' the leaves which printed different leaf patterns onto some material. We also used some of the natural materials we had found to make some fairy wands.
We ended our day with milk, fruit and biscuits in the teepee and talked about our favourite activities of the day. What a fun day of trying new things!
