A WARM WELCOME TO JK FROM THE PTA 

Dear Family,
I'd like to offer my warm welcome to you and your child/ children to John Keble School and our PTA community. I hope that you find the school as friendly, relaxed, nurturing and fun as my children and I have. It’s truly a special place, with a really caring and talented staff team. And, I haven’t even mentioned the beautiful grounds and wider village community the school is lucky enough to be set in. I hope that you’ll join me and the existing parent community to help to maintain the level of support we currently provide to the school. You are automatically a member of the PTA but there’s no obligation to do anything – we just hope that we provide enough flexible ways for you to support and, that you’re inspired to give something back.  Ok… so we can’t promise we won’t keep asking and occasionally try to twist your arm by supplying the wine, but that’s about as dirty as our tricks get! We’re grateful for all the help we receive. I’ve put together a little information about the PTA but, if you have any questions or ideas then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Fundraising…

JK PTA was set up to raise funds as a way of showing our appreciation to the staff for all they do and to help support our lovely school.    Our financial year runs from Sept – August. Together we raised an amazing £27,000 last year 09/15-8/16. This year’s results 09/16-08/17 will be announced at the AGM in October.
£7k was raised from Treefest, sponsorship and grants for our Operation Outdoor Campaign all of which has been used to complete the Woodland, Nature and Tree Classrooms.
£6k of the remaining £20k was used to run the events, leaving a net profit of £14k. The Church received a donation of just over £2k from the Fete profits. This means we were able to donate a fantastic £12k for the school wish-list this year. This enabled Mr. Sanders to tick off the following items:
  • Lego We-do kits for computing
  • Raspberry Pi laptops
  • New musical instruments
  • Year R resources for the classroom
  • First News and Aquila subscriptions
  • Class topic budgets (£50 per class, per term)
  • Yr 6 Leaver’s Bibles and Year Books

Other Fundraising:

  • 'Easy Fundraising' – register to raise funds whilst you shop online at no cost to you
  • Check your name label supplier to see if JK is registered for a %
  • Christmas Cards designed by your child on sale in November
  • Weekly Cookie Sales at the Parent Shelter on Fridays (50p a cookie)

Events…

Our main source of income is from our calendar of events. As well as raising funds, we like to think these events provide a lot of fun and create lasting memories for the children which enhances their already wonderful experience at JK. We also hold purely social evenings and coffees throughout the year.

We send information out via class group emails from the liaisons, Parentmail, school newsletters and by using book-bags. We also have one PTA meeting per term which is open to all. Next year’s list of dates for all meetings and events will go out in September 2017. Please let us have your contact details (if you haven’t already) so that you are included from the off!

Other ways to support:

Volunteer – we have all sorts or roles or just individual tasks – whether you have 1 hour or a week to donate across the year; we can make good use of your time!
