Our school site is located a short way along Hursley Park Rd, a private road owned and maintained by our close neighbours IBM. We are pleased that IBM support the school in a number of ways:
Parking - IBM kindly allow the use of their 'Deep South Car Park' for parents to park at morning school drop off times and in the afternoon at pick up times. They also open a temporary park space, that is adjacent to the school, when we have special events taking place. We ask that parents and visitors do not park along the side of Hursley Park Rd at these times.
Curriculum - A team of volunteers from IBM visit each week to deliver sessions to our Key Stage 2 classes to supplement the work we do in delivering the computing curriculum. Currently the project they are working on involves the use of WATSON - a question answering computer system developed by IBM - that the children are using to create their own 'Guess Who?' style computer game.
Code Club - Another team of volunteers visit each week to run a coding club. This is currently open for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils and will be for open Year 3 and Year 4 pupils later in the year. They are currently working with the software program 'Scratch' to create their own computer games.
Visits to IBM - At Christmas time our Year R and Year 1 pupils visit Santa's Grotto and Year 6 pupils visit their museum of technology as well as having a chance to experience new technologies at the forefront of research.
