We want to keep everyone SAFE when visiting our school. We also have a duty to act sensibly, with consideration to other road users and with respect for local residents and land owners.
We do not have any vehicular access to our school site and to help reduce the risk of accidents, we ask that staff, parents and visitors to our school respect the requests detailed on this page. Parking is a regular item on our Federation Newsletters, which you can read here.
Staff, visitors and parents who are staying at the school for a longer period of time should either park along the railings next to the school if there is space or drive a short distance to the Village Hall at Morley's Green where there are additional public parking spaces outside the hall, a layby on the right hand side of the road, spaces opposite the hall near to the green space and the first 8 spaces along the road to the new houses.
From September 2018, we will be asking for all parents (other than those with a blue badge or accessibility needs) to use the Park & Stride system instead of using Knapp Lane to stop and drop off/ pick up. This is because the number of road users and children using this area in a short window of time is raising the risk to our young children and other road users. Parents can park at the Village Hall and Morley's Green in the spaces described above. It is only a short, three minute walk to the school. We are currently gaining quotes for work to add in a new level access pedestrian gate at the bottom of the playground so that children and parents can cross the road from the Village Hall and go straight onto the school site, rather than having to walk along a road with no pavement.
The school is working with the Parish Council, Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council to review and determine Safer Routes to School. A Park & Stride map has been created by the School Travel Plan Team for your reference. Initial plans are in process to consider the application of certain parking restrictions to Knapp Lane in the future. If this goes ahead, this will mean that road users will not be able to park along the first part of Knapp Lane during key times in the school day. Behaviour change does take time so we are suggesting that parents become used to parking and walking from the Village Hall/ Morley's Green before any legal restrictions take place.
Many thanks for your understanding and assistance in keeping all of our children safe around the school entrance.
